The Wetherill School seeks to create a warm and secure first school experience where independence and responsibility are fostered in each child. At the same time, there is a strong interdependent community feeling that exists among the children, parents, and staff.
Children are in mixed-aged classrooms in the mornings, where group as well as individual projects take place. The social, emotional, physical and cognitive development of each child is carefully considered, and the growth and support of intellectual curiosity underlies all projects and curricula.
The school's philosophy is rooted in traditional principles of Early Childhood Education and in the work of Montessori, Dewey, Piaget, and the Reggio Emilia Schools.
